It's GiveAway Time Again...

It's about time I got around to sharing a little art with you don't you think? Since moving here to Northern Virginia I haven't produced much art but here's one I'm pretty proud of. If you're a long time reader of this blog you will know about my mother's adventures with painting in acrylic. She's amazing at it and as would follow such great talent, award winning as well! If you didn't see my post about it then you can click HERE ! Needless to say, she inspired me to pick up a brush and tubes of paint and just do it already! This little beauty was inspired by a stroll along the Blue Bell path at Bull Run park located in Manassas VA. You can click HERE to revisit that post if you'd like.
A detail shot for you.

This is an acrylic painting that has been sealed so no need for glass. It's meant to sit on a shelf or table. The image measures 5x7" and the outside of the frame measures 7 1/2 x 9 12".
This contest is open to EVERYONE. Here's how it works. I pose a question and you simply post your answer here in the comments section. We here at Rachel In Full Color will pick our favorite answer from the group and that winner will recieve this gorgeous Rachel Original in the mail! Simple as that!
Are you read for your question?
If you could only carry one item with you on a stroll through the woods, what would it be and why?
( This contest will remain open until Midnight Friday May 21st.)

Ooo, I get to be first! I'd bring a guidebook to the local fauna and flora, so whatever plant, bird, fungus or tree I discovered could be researched. In Ohio, I once found a really really bizarre plant and still regret I don't know what it was!

Oh Boy! I get to respond second! I would of course bring my sketchbook into the woods. Therein I could record not only in drawings what I saw but also capture my thoughts, feelings and observations along the way. If something went horribly wrong while there, at least I would have left some evidence as to what in the world I was doing while out in the woods by myself! Must be prepared :-) MOMMA BEAN

I would bring my kids. I get so many smiles out of their excitement for everything. You learn to see it with new eyes

Jenny

P.S. Zach would be there too!

I would have to take a camera. I would want to remember everything that I saw. I could share my adventure then with everyone.

If I could carry one item into the woods it would be my Holga camera. I only take it out when I'm going into the forest anyway so I end up shooting a lot of sticks, leaves, rocks and dirt.

Does the tripod count as a second item if I attach the camera to it?

If I could only carry one item with me, I would bring a laptop. I type faster than I can write and since writing is how I best retain colors, emotions, and sounds, that would be the best way to remember my inspirations from the nature muse.

Hey Rachel
the one thing i would carry into the woods would be a walking stick.I could use it to defend myself from snakes, poke at ooey things, and of course help me to climb hills.

I could ask for more details as to what region of the country and time of the year..... blah blah blah. But ill save the readers some time and take a pistol... after a few days of being in the woods alone that pistol start to look mighty friendly.
